No slam dunk for you!
Zathman: I read that RIM is bringing BBM to Android, will you install?
Me: maybe, i have lots of friends still living in the dark ages ...
Zathman: Well considering the playbook apparently supports Android apps, it may perhaps be a reality.
Me: The playbook supporting Android apps, is like a football player playing basketball, he can throw the ball, but there wont be any slam dunks.

Canadian Doctors
I don’t really believe in modern medicine, it has become industrialized and the practice of caring for others has become institutionalized and is now buried under corporate structure and incentivised by money! Don’t get me wrong, I believe in science and in people who want to dedicate their lives to help others, what I don’t like is the pursuit of monetary revenue as the main...

What's an anti-Apple guy like me doing with an...
First off, let’s get somethings straight: I don’t hate Apple, I think they make excellent products with amazing quality. What I don’t like is people telling me what to do and how to do it, and Apple is the king of telling people what to do and how to do it. It’s either their way, or the highway! And I have no respect for twisting truths and re-wording facts to benefit personal interest, and...

My Golden Rule of Software Development
My biggest pet peeve in software development is getting emails with questions about generic programming language errors or library bugs that could otherwise be solved by simply googling the error lines … I don’t really know where the problem lies, but it doesn’t seem be limited to junior devs or people just learning to develop, I’ve gotten those pesky emails rom seasoned developers and very smart...

The TTC transfer system is broken
Ever since I arrived at Toronto I’ve used the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) for most of my transportation needs. The subway is at the heart of all my movement within the city, and with streetcars and buses I can make any trip within the city for $3 CAD (used to be cheaper but that’s a different story) The TTC has many flaws, but one thing really bugs me beyond anything else is the subway...

Mobile Blogging
Its been a long time since I posted any original articles on this blog, the reason is quite simple, whenever I find myself sitting in front of a keyboard, my instincts trigger me to do some coding as its my primary hobby to hack! Which only leaves one solution for blogging: going mobile! The idea worked out quite well, when I’m mobile, traveling or in transit, I seldom think of bringing...

Genius Customer Service
Me: Hi, I'm here to pick up my iPad
Apple Employee: Great, lets look it up!
Apple Employee: It looks like your reservation period expired.
Me: Excuse me?
Apple Employee (with a snarky look on his face): Well it says here your reservation was for Saturday June 19th and Today is is Sunday!
Me: Yeah, I happen to know what day is today thank you very much, but I couldn't make it yesterday on such short notice and I'm here now.
Apple Employee (now looking at me impatiently): sorry sir the reservation is only for 24 hours. you should have been here yesterday.
Me: I got the email notifying me of this reservation on Saturday 12 AM, I was asleep! By the time I woke up on weekend it was 10 AM and your store closes on 9 PM... so where are those 24 hours you are talking about? by my count that's more like 12 hours! I dunno about most of your other customers but I actually have a life! I can't change plans on such short notice!
Apple Employee: ummm ...
Me: Yeah, exactly, thank you very much, you just lost a customer, good bye.

Do the math!
I’m quite surprised by the reactions I got from people on Twitter when I announced I’m leaving Roger’s internet and taking up TekSavvy’s service instead. It seems people just took a look at the Rogers page, compared it to the TekSavvy page and decided TekSavvy is way too expensive! The difference is obvious, TekSavvy’s page is ugly, and not very organized, provides...

minimalmac: So, what were you planning to do for lunch? Got plans? No? Well, you should grab a bag lunch and spend your time watching the whole interview of Steve Jobs from the recent D8 conference. What was that? You read a live blog? Saw a few clips? Well, I would argue that you have not seen, read, or heard the best parts. Seriously, this is probably the best interview I have ever seen....

CSS Transparency in All The Browsers
There are many cross-browser issues and transparency is one of the weird issues among them. All the browsers treat transparency in a different way to overcome this issue we need to define three different properties. The below properties are specific to a browser. .trans{ opacity: 0.5; filter:alpha(opacity=50); -moz-opacity:0.5; ...

The Microsoft Way
Bart Simpson: It's always a party with Funzo!
Lisa Simpson: [Lisa walks up] I admit, it's kind of cute. But it'll never take the place of Malibu Stacy.
[Funzo takes the Malibu Stacy doll, breaks it, and throws it in the fire]
Lisa Simpson: AWHH! Did you see that!
Bart Simpson: Yeah! Funzo makes playtime fun!
[Funzo starts choking Bart's Krusty doll]
Bart Simpson: Hey, why is it destroying other toys?
Lisa Simpson: They must have programmed it to eliminate the competition.
Bart Simpson: You mean like Microsoft?
Lisa Simpson: Exactly! Come on Bart, we've gotta warn everyone.
